Count screens, not people

Terms of use

These terms describe what you are buying, how it is meant to be used inside a household, and what we expect from each other. They are written to be read rather than survived. Using the service means you accept them. If they are updated, the version published here is the one in force, and a change is not applied backwards to a term you have already paid for.

What you are buying

You are buying access for a set period, at the length you selected when you ordered, to the channel line-up you selected. The line runs to that date. It is tied to the screen or screens it was set up for, and each screen counts separately, which is the arithmetic described throughout this site. A line carries one stream at a time, so a second screen playing at the same time as the first is a second purchase rather than a setting.

Household use

The service is sold for use within your own household. Sharing your details outside it is not permitted, and in practice it does not work well anyway, since a second person watching at the same time affects the first. If you want to supply other households deliberately, that is a reseller arrangement and should be agreed as one rather than improvised.

If a channel you watch moves or goes

No single named channel is guaranteed for the length of a term. What that means in practice for a household is worth spelling out: if the channel one person in the house watches disappears, write in and we will tell you which of the three things has happened, because they need different responses. It may have moved to another line-up, in which case the fix is a different line-up rather than a different service. It may have been dropped by the broadcaster behind it, which nobody here can reverse. Or it may be a fault at your end on one screen, which is the most common of the three and the quickest to sort out.

What we ask of you

Give accurate details when you order, keep your sign-in details within your household, and do not attempt to redistribute or rebroadcast what you receive. Tell us promptly if you believe somebody outside the house has your details. Beyond that, use it however suits your household.

The scope of support

Support covers your line and its behaviour: setup, screens that stop working, questions about your line-up. It does not extend to your home network, your broadband connection, or hardware faults in your television, though we will usually tell you when the evidence points that way. A connection that struggles with everything else will struggle with this too.

There is nothing to cancel

Payment is taken once, for the term you chose. Nothing recurring is set up against your card, no further charge follows on its own, and there is no account sitting there waiting to be closed. At the end of the period the line simply stops working, and if the household wants to carry on, somebody buys again. This is why the end date belongs in your calendar rather than in the back of your mind.

Questions

Can I let a family member in another house use my details?

No. The line is for your own household, and a second household watching at the same time interferes with your own viewing in any case. A separate line for them is the clean answer.

What if a channel I watch disappears during my term?

Line-ups change over time and no individual channel is guaranteed for the length of a term. Write in and we will tell you whether it has moved, gone, or is a fault at your end.

Worked out what you need?

Once you know how many screens and which line-ups, setting it up takes about a minute.
