The questions households ask before ordering

These are the questions that come in from people who are still working out what to buy, rather than from people with a screen misbehaving in front of them. They are grouped roughly in the order most households hit them. Anything diagnostic lives on the forum instead.

Before you order

Almost every pre-purchase question turns out to be one of three: how many, which line-up, and how long. If you can answer those, you are ready. If you cannot, the answer is usually that nobody has yet counted how often two screens in the house are on at the same time. Two smaller questions come up often enough to answer here as well. The region you choose has nothing to do with the country you are sitting in, so nobody needs to be anywhere in particular for this to work. And the account should be in the name of whoever is most likely to read a message about it, which is rarely the most technical person in the house and often the most organised one.

Once it is running

The questions change completely after the first week. They stop being about what to buy and start being about what to do when a household changes shape: a new television, a lodger, a child old enough to want their own screen. Those are arithmetic questions again, which is why they are answered here rather than on the forum. Buying the second line a month after the first is perfectly normal and plenty of households spread the decision that way; the only consequence is two different end dates, which you can bring back together the next time you buy. Travelling changes nothing about your line-up either, only the clock you are watching it against.

We are four people with two televisions. What do we actually need?

Count the evenings when both televisions are on at once. If that happens regularly, you need two. If the second set is genuinely only used when the first is off, one covers the household and you can revisit it later.

Which term should I pick if I have never used IPTV before?

Start short. Not because the service is different on a short term, but because your household will discover things about its own viewing in the first month that change the screen count. Commit longer once you know the shape.

Half the house watches Arabic channels and half watches English. Do we need two of everything?

You need one screen for each person watching at the same time, which you probably needed anyway, and each of those can carry a different line-up. So it is two, but not because of the language split. It is two because two people are watching at once.
